For a nation with a fierce reputation for fighting; the Irish are actually quite reticent about their military exploits. It is only in the past two years that the government of the Republic of Ireland has recognised the contribution which Irishmen north and south have made to both World Wars. In keeping with this determination to recognise the sacrifices which all the Allied troops made, especially in World War II, we have organised this tour with John McCann, the local historian of the 82nd Airborne's time in Northern Ireland prior to D-Day.
This tour is for the families and friends of the veterans who want to see where their fathers and grandfathers trained in Ireland and also offers the scenic highlights of both parts of modern Ireland.
