But there is another Ireland which our forefathers would have known and recognised by every hilltop, standing stone, stream and ridge. An Ireland where the lie of the land told its own story; where strangers could bring war— or peace. It is a country where strange things happened and it mattered not whether they were fact or fiction: they were real to those who heard them, and believed.
