Culinary Tours: Overview
Bacon and cabbage, cabbage and bacon—knife and fork, fork and knife. With which implement would you like to impale the malefactor who ever spread that rumour about Irish food? Who put the "char" into "charity"?
Let's get this straight: whilst there are as many fast food outlets in Kerry as in Kentucky, nowadays there are many good establishments in Ireland where well-trained chefs use the best of local produce to raise the standard of gastronomy—and it is our intention to present them to you—with great pleasure.
This tour has been produced under the influence—the influence of Mesdames Courtney and Hudson, who are both excellent home cooks and bakers. So you can be assured that the research has been both diligent and thorough.
No short cuts, just lean ones. No sidetrips, just side orders. Undoubtedly the star of the show is Neven Maguire, one of Ireland's leading chefs. With his own TV show and cookery books, Neven (see accompanying article) is one of the most conscientious and unassuming chefs you'll find anywhere. And like us, he takes great pride in presenting not only his table but his producers. We trust and hope that this tour will delight you and give you a completely new concept of Ireland.
